Announcements Scholarship for Virginia Tech StudentsApplications for the Pamplin Leader Scholarship are now available.
This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to one student from each public high school in Virginia who has applied to Virginia Tech, is admitted and accepts the offer of admission.
The scholarship is open to students applying to all majors. The Pamplin Leaders seek students with a 3.75 GPA or higher, who have a commitment to community service and who have leadership experience.
Interested students should pick up an application in Counseling. The deadline date is Monday, February 6, 2012. Pre-Law Conference at CNUThe Virginia State Bar Education of Lawyers Section is hosting a High School Pre-Law conference at Regent University Law School on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The conference is intended for high school students and parents who wish to learn about the legal profession, law school and the law school admissions process. Speakers include practicing lawyers, judges, law professors, law school admissions officers, undergraduate pre-law advisors and law students. The event is free, but students and parents should register in advance. To register, go to regent.edu/prelaw and fill out the form. Registration should be completed by Saturday, Feb. 11. Financial Aid WorkshopsThe Office of Financial Aid at the University of Mary Washington is pleased to announce upcoming financial aid workshops for high school seniors and their parents. The general lecture-based sessions in January at the University of Mary Washington will include a description of financial aid, filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), cost of attendance (COA), expected family contribution (EFC), common filing errors and how to address special circumstances. Students and their parents are invited to participate. Registration is required and some sessions may reach capacity. The Academic Awards Ceremony is held each fall. Sophomores receive certificates and encouragement to continue their academic achievement. Juniors receive their academic letter, and seniors receive a bar for their academic letter.
